ITINERARY BY DAY

Halong Bay Cruise Islands and Caves

After you’re picked up at your hotel you’ll head out on the drive to Halong Bay – a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, making a short stop en route in Hai Duong to visit crafts workshops, where you’ll see marble stone sculptures, plaque paintings, and hand-embroidered items.

On your full-day excursion you’ll continue on the scenic drive to Halong Bay, reaching the city pier at around 12:00 pm, and board board a traditional wooden junk and start the cruising trip to the centre of the bay.

You’ll be greeted with a welcome drink and then enjoy a fresh seafood lunch (vegetarian menu available) is served while the boat cruises further to the bay. Many amazing islands can be found such as Fighting Cocks (symbol of Halong Bay) Islet, Finger Islet, Incense Burner Islet, and Stone Dog Islet. You’ll have a chance to take in the tranquil beauty and breathtaking scenery from the deck of the boat.

After lunch, visit to Thien Cung’s magnificent grotto, one of the major ones in the archipelago. Accessible after a short walk up an islet amidst the rain forest, this recently discovered 130-meters long cave is now a real attraction, with amazing shapes and state-of-the-art lightshow. After this visit, the cruise will offer you a lunch on board while getting back to Halong City. Driver transfers you back to Hanoi city.

Amazing places to visit, amazing staff, amazing service

My husband and I have always done our own planning, organizing, and hotel booking for our previous holidays but when we decided to go to Vietnam we chose a tour with Detoured Asia as we were unfamiliar with south-east Asia. We are so glad we did! Everything about the itinerary they organized for us was absolutely perfect. We didn’t know what to expect, but found that our tour was just us, with everything organized. No group, although we did keep meeting other people on Halong Tour itineraries, and they were as happy with the company as we were. All the hotels were lovely, welcoming and comfortable, the transfers were always on time and very easy (it was so reassuring being met in a new city by someone with our name on a placard!), and all of the small group tours and activities were well chosen, interesting, and enjoyable. The tour guides, too, were very good, professional and informative, but warm and personable as well.

Joseph Van, the Detoured Asia manager we communicated with prior to arrival in Vietnam and who met us when we arrived, was a pleasure to work with. He made many suggestions and offered options to ensure our holiday was everything we would want, and always responded promptly and in detail to any questions we had. With Detoured Asia we never had to worry about any of the details of the itinerary (including a border-crossing which a company representative assisted us with), allowing us to focus on the experience of what was, for us, a fascinating and very different country. Our 18 day itinerary in Vietnam and Cambodia was excellent value for money, as well. We loved every minute of it, and felt like VIPs. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
